A SPEAKEASY FOR STORIES THAT TAKE THE EDGE OFF WRITING

Stroll into The Write Pour...

Okay, technically it’s an email list.

But “email list” feels like a criminally sad combo of words for the kind of stories that have people replying:

So, The Write Pour.

A weekly-ish dispatch tucked into a dimly lit, jukebox-fuelled corner of the internet where the stories are the point, the newsletters read like letters, and nobody’s corralling you toward a CTA.

There’s an open stool at the bar with your name on it.

Not literally. That would be unsettling.

But you get the idea.

That’s what you’re stepping into…

A respite from the frameworks and templates and Joe Copy Bros of the world.

Letters that read like fiction.

A place for stories that have you feeling like a fly on the wall.

And writing that’s done the way it was always meant to be – from one person to another.

Sure, occasionally there’ll be a little voice.
A little messaging.
A little personality.
But only incidentally.

Mostly, it’ll be the kind of observational vulnerability that gives you a weekly dose of “oh thank god, it’s not just me.”

Writing gets weirdly lonely.

But, in my experience, it gets a little easier when someone slides a story across the bar and says, same.

A few pours from the archive

Who’s pouring?

By trade, I write about voice, messaging, and the slippery little business of putting words to what you do. By personality defect, I’m a former bartender who built an entire brand around being the person people tell things to.

Overheard things, this-feels-embarassing moments, “I know this is probably nothing, but…” worries. The kind of stories that make life and this whole writing gig feel a little less lonely.

Every week-ish, fuelled by these moments, I sit down and ask…

What did I need to hear when I made this harder than it had to be?

Then I write my way toward the answer.

K, cool.

Love you bye.

Laffy

I’m Laffy.

Just your name and a way to keep in touch.

Because places like this?

They don’t just let anyone wander in.

But you found this door for a reason.

The cost of admission?

Want the next one?

Look. You’re not the first to linger at the doorway wondering if you should stroll in.

You should.

The door is metaphorical, the invitation is not.
